Shigekazu Tanaka

Founder & CEO / Film Producer

Born the fourth generation of a foundry owner in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, he inherited a passion for craftsmanship and ventured to the U.S. on his own. In 1995, he graduated from the University of Southern California, Hollywood's premier film school, with a degree in film production. He began his career as a film cameraman. Then, after hearing from George Lucas of Star Wars, a graduate of the University of Southern California, that "the film era had given way to the digital era," he switched to becoming a producer. In Hollywood, he witnessed the essential gap between the Japanese and U.S. film industries and realized the need for a global market strategy and financing methods at its root. 2007, he was asked to help his friend Jason Arasheben, a successful jewelry designer in the U.S., to expand his business to Japan, and founded Stessier Japan Co. In 2018, he founded JDR. Inc., a company that provides crypto asset indicators as a compass for the digital money era, and in 2019 he became the president of the company. His representative works as a cameraman include Tatsuya Ishii's "Anshinshiroyo" PV, Bobson's "Ewan McGregor Harley Version" CM, and JA Bank's "Support Each Other Orchestra" CM, which was shot entirely on location in Warsaw, Poland. In August 2023, he founded KAT, an entertainment production company.
